Another book meme

I have literally had zero time to do anything lately. This is becoming a major problem, as evidenced by the spazzy way that Sullivan has been behaving (Ozzy's always confused, so that's nothing new). E's been out the door before 7, home at about 8 it seems (last night he came home at 9!). I leave at 7, home by 5:30, snarf down some grilled chicken

Tell me about this Tony Horowitz of whom you speak. I like Bill Bryson - but he's just okay.

my thought exactly. finding an author that is "a better Bill Bryson" sounds right up my alley.

Sorry, I misspelled his name: Tony Horwitz.

He's a reporter turned travel writer and I think his best books were Confederates in the Attic (about Civil War sites) and Baghdad without a Map (about the middle east during the first Gulf War). I've read Confederates probably five times. E in particular liked the Baghdad book. The only one I didn't really like was the one about Captain Cook but even that's better than most of Bryson's--but I did like Bryson's History of Everything and the one about the Appalacian Trail.
