ok, now i'm sure who my favourite authors are. i was thinking about it tonight, while "getting ready to take a shower" (read: reading Narnia. Magician's Nephew and Last Battle to be precise.) I luff books! I remember my very first books! I remember the day I found out I could read to myself...without reading out loud! I could read inside my head! I remember reading the Chronicals of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings (and Hobbit) series in 2nd and 3rd grade over Christmas breaks.....I luff those books. Though when I tried to read LOTR recently, I couldn't, because I already knew what was going to happen and there was too much description of the scenery for my older, faster, more impatient brain to digest. *waves*

Nonono, I'm not saying your brain is slower! I'm saying that, in the gradual change from a 2nd or 3rd grader wandering in the woods out back, gazing upon each tree with a practiced eye to test whether or not it is climbable, to a more-sophistacted-despite-her-protests 16-year-old who has become a verifiable couch potato in front of her computer screen (or rather, broken-swivel-chair-potato), the meaning of the phrase "Let me show you the coolest place ever!" has been demurred from translating to a 15 minute walk in the woods to a click of a button. Thereby, my world has gotten faster, and I have gotten lazier, and though I still keep an eye out for climbing trees, it has been a while since the texture of bark has been a new revelation to me. That is all I am saying. Reading a 2-page description on how the land lies and which way the leaves flutter to the ground was much more interesting to my woodsy young self than it is now to my impatient, stupid, really-wishing-I-were-8-again teen ( ... )
