I posted on Facebook yesterday, but for those who haven't heard, I was not accepted into the University of Michigan's School of Information

"I'm not giving up on going back to school, and I'm not giving up on U of M either. I plan on getting in touch with the department and finding out if there was a specific thing in particular that made them deny me admission to the program. Was it GPA? My GRE scores? Were my essays sub-par? Or was it there just wasn't enough room for me? In any case, I'm taking the holidays off to enjoy myself, get some work done at Lush, and make a bit of money. After the first of the year, I'll start researching my options. I could end up in a different school entirely, or a different program. Who knows."
This is the perfect response and just the right way to tackle it!
Thanks honey. Yeah. I still have dreams and I'm still going to pursue them. I think after the rejection letter, I just realized how burned out I am from the whole process. I'll have my holiday break and get back up and fight again.
Chin up, chica! Things don't always work out exactly how you hoped/planned, but I'm sure that one way or another they will work out. Just don't give up; I know if you keep at it you will do it.
As for crocheting, don't give up on that, either! It's so zen and a great way to de-stress and clear your mind. Are you on ravelry yet? If not you should log on and share some finished products, join groups, etc. That always gets me re-motivated.
Definitely not giving up, but still trying to get used to the fact that my dream plan didn't work out. As I told Becky, I'm just feeling burned out for the moment.
DEFINITELY NOT giving up the crochet for good. Just lost the motivation for a moment. I'm actually in the middle of a scarf to give someone for Christmas. As to who will be on the receiving end of it, I haven't decided yet. It'll be either Pete, his brother, or my Dad.
I am on ravelry, but I rarely log on. My sn on there is Verselus. I mainly look on my account to look up free patterns. I have found the greatest mitten pattern however. My absolute favorite!
So...am I going to see you this week at all? I miss getting Patti hugs!
So sorry to hear this as they clearly missed a great applicant. I feel bad for you as I know how it goes when you are applying for applications (or in my case, it was jobs). It can be a very, very humbling experience, and I have been on both sides of it (both where I have been denied something I wanted and where I had to turn down good applicants for very, very picky reasons I wish I had not needed to use).
No matter what, don't lose your drive and aspirations for the future. You can achieve your goals, and I predict you will be even stronger. The UM truly lost a great applicant. It's their loss and it should be their loss. It should not be your loss. A win might not come immediately, but it will come later.
