Getting in touch with my inner bookworm...

*Edit* I would just like to say that my brand new Libra LJ icon was made by my friend Michael aka Childrenofraven. He made them for all his friends. Wasn't that thoughtful? Thank you so much, Mike. You inspired me to change my user picture, lol. It had been Ron Weasley for quite some time, eh? Thanks again ( Read more... )

we read Fahrenheit 451 in High School. Remember? I think it was Junior English, if I remember correctly.

BTW, great collection of books too. I've read all but one on that list. Fabulous choices!:)

I've never read Fahrenheit 451. I asked Greg if he remembered reading it and he said that he read it in summer school English. So, I guess I missed out. I plan to read it first, though... when the book arrives next week. :-)

If you're into Satire, and comical writings in general, might I suggest Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (I think I misspelled that last author's last name).

it's a fabulous book!

Oohh... thank you for the recommendation! I love Terry Pratchett! He's a fabulous author. I own a couple of his books... from the Disc World series. I like him a lot. :-)

good books danish_of_stiny August 1 2004, 19:59:03 UTC
I read "stranger in a strange land" a few years ago because my dad has it and he wanted me to read all the scifi books he enjoyed. I liked it too. a strange book, butin a good way. I feel like i've read some Ray Bradbury, but i haven't read any of those you ordered... hmm. that will bug me.
'apple'? how is that an interest? apples, maybe, but just one? and confess...you have a secret love for mullets, right?
back on the book topic, i just read "cryptonomicon" by neal stephenson, and it was long and involved, but very good.

Yes, my friend Becca recommended "Stranger in a Strange Land." She said that if I am going to read sci-fi, she wanted to make sure that I read GOOD sci-fi, lol. :-)

Yeah, that interests list cracks me up, lol. Though the list said something about laughing at bad grammar or something like that... and yeah, that is SO me... I'm one of those paper critique nuts. And no, I've never counted mullets before.. but hmmm... haha.

Thank you for the book recommendation. All the books that people are recommending, I'm writing down... and one of these days, I'll get the book. :-)

Wow, I've read every book on that list, and I highly recommend them.. ;) Oh, wait... hehehehehe

Another one to add to the list.."Me Talk Pretty One Day," by David Sedaris. It's a bunch of memoir essays. He's such a witty writer, it's great.

I can tell you which one of those are from my list. 1, 4-9, 12, 14-20. Dear God!

Hmm... yes, it's so ironic that you've read all the books that an anonymous friend of mine recommended for me... lol. ;-)

Yes, I need to add "Me Talk Pretty One Day" to my list of to-buy books. Thank you. :-)

Lol.. that list cracks me up.
