hmm, what to say? people half hear something, and rather than going to the source and saying "hey, we're buds, but i heard that you were talking smack about me, care to explain?" they just go on a public diatribe about how people shouldn't half hear things and make assumptions as a result

For serious: I basically agree. The thing about this medium is, as the astute reader will notice from even a cursory glance at mine own crapulous, overblown entries, it's easy to get histrionic here. Hyperbolic. All of it. Because when you're sitting alone in front of a fucking screen and you don't have to watch the faces of the people you're talking to, you can say anything you want. The terrible liberty of the anonymous. I've been guilty of that more often than I care to think (often at your expense, in the past), and I know how easy it is to get caught up in furious rants, once you get started.
It's good that cooler heads have prevailed.
