Learn how to go from
to
or
in PS 7

First, crop your image to 100x100 pxl, and use Auto Contrast, and sharpen once. The original image was also kind of dark, so I brightened it by creating a screen layer on about 30%. This will depend for each icon.

Then, add a new flood fill layer in #1F2F53, and set it on exclusion, 100%.

Next, add another flood fill layer in #F2E5D2 (#F2E5D2), and set it to multiply, 100%.

Add one more flood layer, this time in #F1CBFC, and set it to colorburn, 100%.

Duplicate the base, and set it to softlight, 100%.

Duplicate your base again, and set it to softlight, 100% as well.

Paste this light texture on, and set it to screen, 100%. The texture is something I created by playing with this texture by awmp.

Now, for this layer, I took this texuture by peoplemachines and pasted on. I set it tocolorburn, 100%, and then moved it around until I thought it looked good. Except, it covered too much of Mahaado's face, so using the Eraser tool on Opacity 100%, I erased the bits over his face. Then, for the bits covering the rest of Mahaado, I set the Eraser tool to Opacity 50%, and erased what I didn't want. The texture then ended up looking like this. You can stop here, and add text if you'd like (for this), but I went on.

Create a new adjustment layer in Curves. Imput these settings:
Red:
145; 117

Green:
114; 145

Blue:
116; 143

Set the layer to normal, 50%

Duplicate your base again, and set it to softlight, 100%.

Create another adjustment layer, but in Selective Color. Imput these settings:
Reds:
-100, 0, +100, -10

Yellows:
-100, 0, +100, 0

Cyans:
+30, 0, -100, 0

Neutrals
+10, 0, 0, +20

Set the layer to normal, 70%

Create a new fill layer in #021C36. Set this one to exclusion, but set it to 60%.

Add text, and you're done! :)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Lemme know what you get out of the tutorial, but please don't copy the icon completely. :D
