Snowball Fight (Pete/Patrick)

Whack! Patrick wheeled around and narrowly missed another snowball as it whizzed past his head. Pete was grinning like a five year old and began making another snowball. The grin vanished however when he saw the look on Patrick's face.

"Don't even think about it," Patrick said icily, glaring hard. Pete looked downcast and the snow was starting to melt in his hand. Patrick was just turning to walk away when Pete threw the snowball hard into his back.

Patrick didn't bother with warnings. He really wasn't in the mood for this today. He didn't even know why he had stopped by Mr. and Mrs. Wentz's house and he certainly hadn't expected Pete to be there. Although he should have known since it was close to Christmas that Pete would have been visiting his family just like Patrick.

Patrick flung himself at Pete with all this might, knocking the both of them over and shoving snow down Pete's shirt. Pete wiggled and laughed, only serving to put Patrick in a fouler mood. Suddenly, Pete's face was too close and everything suddenly came into perfect focus.

Pete's brown eyes were flecked with hazel and his breath was hot on Patrick's cheeks. One of Pete's hands was on Patrick's arm, the other dangerously low on his back. Even though it was another cold Chicago winter, Pete was only wearing a hoodie with a tee and tight jeans. Pete's lips were slightly chapped and his pink tongue darted out to lick them.

"Remember when we had an epic snowball fight back in 2002?" Pete asked and Patrick couldn't take it. He pushed off of Pete and stood over him, eyes narrowing.

"Just stop. We can't do this, not anymore."

"Do what?" Pete looked up at Patrick, trying his best to look innocent.

"This, us," Patrick gestured between them, "You have to stop living in the past. Look to your future. For God's sake Pete, you have a baby! I shouldn't have even come today."

Pete stood and tried to grab Patrick as he started to walk away. Patrick knew he couldn't look back, he didn't want to see Pete's heart breaking.

"You have to grow up, Peter Pan." Patrick took off running, never turning back because he couldn't stand to have Pete see his own heart shattering.
