Beach (Billy/Dom)
Billy hasn't talked to Dominic in a long time. Isn't not like he doesn't miss Dom, it's just, he's got his life here and Dom's got his life in LA. Billy figures Dom is busy, he doesn't want to disturb him and his work. And he's fine with that, knows that if he really wants to, he could pick up the phone right now and Dom would be there for him in a heartbeat. So, really he's fine with the fact they haven't spoken in a while.
But Billy can really use a holiday. The summer weather has been depressing, with no one to go to the pub with late at night to forget about the rain and the cold. Billy misses warm breezes and beaches. So he books a flight to California, and stays in a nice little hotel. He steps off the plane, his fingers itchy over his phone, but he just tucks it back in his pocket.
Billy spends as much time on the beach as he can. The warm sand, the cold water, it feels nothing like home but everything like home at the same time. He stays on the beach, not going into the water much. He wants to soak up as much sun as possible, as if he could store it and save it for later. He lays with his sunglasses and doesn't call Dom.
That plans lasts for three days, before he dials the familiar number. Unsurprisingly, there is no answer and Billy flips his phone shut half way through Dom's voicemail greeting. He falls asleep with his phone in his hand, over his heart. He dreams of warmth and clear skies, wakes up with an odd ache in his heart. He goes to his balcony but Billy wonders why he feels cold in the warm sun-rays shining down on him.
Later that day he tries to call Dom again, only it goes straight to voicemail. Billy starts to weighs the pros and cons of trying to find out where Dom is, whether he should try to go see him when his phone chimes. He sees it's Dom and he answers without realizing he doesn't know what to say.
"BILLY! Bill, Billy Boyd!" Dom cackles into his ear and Billy finds himself smiling. "Hey," he half whispers back, his voice cracking. Dom must have heard, cause he suddenly goes quite and even though Billy can't see him, he knows Dom's eyes have gone serious.
"What is it, Billy? Is something wrong? Did something happen?" Dom is questioning him and Billy wants to tell him nothing's wrong, wants to tell him how good it is to hear his voice, but he can't cause his throat has gone tight and he doesn't know how he started crying.
"Oh no, did someone die? Did you lose all your money? Billy, tell me," Dom is saying, a slight panic to his voice. He's mistaken Billy's tears for depressing news. "Where are you?" Dom asks and Billy finds he can finally speak.
"In LA, at this hotel," he tells Dom the address and he knows Dom is rushing to get there, Dom still babbling on about how it's going to be okay and Billy can't say much, he doesn't know how. Billy walks out of the hotel, to the beach. The sun's gone and he's not even hearing Dom's words anymore, just listening to his voice. And suddenly the voice gets louder and Dom is right there, looming over Billy, real and solid.
Dom's crashing over Billy, crushing their lips together, sand getting everywhere in their frenzy. Dom won't stop kissing him until he realizes Billy is smiling, smiling so hard it hurts. Dom pulls back and he looks worried and confused. They just stare at each other for a while, but Billy is still smiling, so Dom's breathing a little easier.
"I missed you," Billy says finally. Dom looks a little more confused, but then he starts laughing. And he's kissing Billy again and Billy remembers why the beach feels like home.
