Really, now. I don't get these new "trends". I guess it's just the same old game with a different name. It's not so general anymore. It's not the jocks and the geeks and the preps. They've all mutated into a variety of subcategories and subcultures. It's. . . quite frankly, ridiculous. Why write about this? I dunno. No one ever really calls me by ( Read more... )

my opinion on the subjct is such...i agree, the catergorical rules of the past no longer apply. at my school we have what is called "senior court" which is 12 boys and 12 girls from which prom king and queen are picked. every other year besides this one, it was the cute preppy kids that won. but this year, was the year of the underdog. ppl like myself and nabiha and others, who don't quite fall in to the"senior court" catergory won. and also, i hate it when ppl get accused of being "trendy". liek for example, i pierced my belly buton today, i didn;t do it cuz everyone else is doing it, i did it cuz i liked how itlooked, and i wanted to know if it hurt or not. i buy starbux, not to be cool, but becuaseit tastes yummy. i do things that i like, sometimes they just happen to be trendy. so if i see someone with cute pants, and i go out an buy similar pants, and it jsut happens that everyone has the same pants, does that make me trendy? no. i forgot my point. damn....

Well, I don't see anything wrong with having a shopping spree at the thrift and then indulging yourself with a $10 frappucino at Starbucks. Because I do it. I like the thrift because I like 70's fashion - (ie Brady Bunch-ish, B-52's-ness) - and what better place to find poliester skirts and polka-dotted scarves then there? But at the same time, I am chronically addicted to good coffee. Is it my fault that such things are "hip" and "trendy" among today's subculture? No, it's not. I guess I'm sorry that my taste is so good that everyone seems to agree. =) (joke, hehe)

My point:
I understand how these trivial things annoy you; they annoy me, too. Because no one likes to see those kids that go to the thrift jsut to be "different" and "cheap" but then blow their allowance on a $12 latte because its cool. I see the financial irony and I understand why it's amusing when people only do these things because its "cool." But there are people out there that jsut so happen to like what's so called "trendy" not for the sake of it being popular ( ... )

yea i heard about your school's senior court. that's pretty cool. and i totally agree about the belly button piercing thing.. among other things, it's "trend" and then people expect you do suc things to be "cool" and "accepted" and whatnot. well fuck that. i want to get my lip pierced. i love the way it looks. so blah! heh. and yea, sometimes one doesnt find out about certain things because theyre difficult to find [i.e. music. a lot of shit they DONT play on the radio.. and if they dont and you maybe dont go to shows and cant d/l it off the internet, how the hell are you supposed to find it? should it fall out of the sky? grr. heh]. ::shrugs:: oh well. so long as we're all happy being who we are :)

I totally agree with you... People label people because its easier to say oh he dress with fishnets and eyeliner so he's a goth. or a punk if he wears stripes shirts and converse or whatver. I think they just do it 1* coz they are morons and 2* coz they are afraid of meeting people. One you label someone at first sight, you lost interest on getting to know them so you don't and miss most of fun.. Its fun getting to know people, most people keep suprising me. so yeah very random what im speaking. i hope you understand

i agree with the not wanting to get to know them thing too. i admit ive done that a few times, but that winds up being b/c some ppl decide to give me fdirty looks or talk shit when i haven't even met them. a lot of time, though, i wind up finding out that they thought i wouldnt like them either and all. ::shrugs:: go fig.
