RAW Coverage 5/29/06
Mick Foley and Paul Heyman had a mid-ring face-off. Foley began with a "cheap pop" saying it was great to see Melina in Tacoma, Washington. He told Heyman that was heavy to call him a prostitute. He said he's guilty, somewhat, because, "Let's face it, Paul. Everybody in WWE does things they don't wanna do to get to the top. If you tuned in to watch men of principle taking stands, well, you're in the wrong damn place." He said the only difference between the ECW Mick Foley and the WWE Mick Foley is he traded in a low-life, nothing-happening pimp like you for a billion dollar pimp like Vince McMahon. "Where I begin to get a little bit vexed is where I hear your assembling this little One Night Stand PPV, and Edge and I, the proud co-holders of the Hardcore Championship, are going to take on the legendary Terry Funk and the 'Innovator Violence' Tommy Dreamer." He said he and Edge set a new standard for what hardcore is all about at WrestleMania. "I wish you luck with your charming little band of pot smoking, porn addicted, cheap, second-rate Mick Foley ripoffs. Best of luck to you," said Foley.
Heyman said, "Wow, wow. I really miss that locker room thatyou described, Mick. Your comments would be a lot more biting to me if they just didn't come from a guy who spent his entire career as a Terry Funk ripoff." Foley said he'd admit that Terry Funk was the greatest wrestler he ever saw. He admitted that Tommy Dreamer was as tough and had as much heart as anyone he entered the ring with. He said where he parted with them is what they didn't have the guts to do. Heyman said he pulled a sock out of his crotch, put it on his hand, and made Vince McMahon laugh when he was in the hospital. He said that's what Funk and Dreamer didn't have the guts to do. He asked Foley how many title shots he had before that. "The problem is they had Bingo Hall balls," said Foley. "They didn't have what it took to do what I did, apply their craft on the main stage of WWE. The gutsiest move I ever made was wandering out of my comfort zone to the great wide unknown and becoming one of the biggest stars this business has ever seen. You don't hate me, Paul, because I sold out. Everybody left you eventually. You hate me because I had the audacity to realize on my own volition what everyone did sooner or later - that the road from ECW led only four ways, as a drunk, a drug addict, a criminal, or a corpse. You rsent me because of who I am, the hardcore legend, the biggest star this business has ever seen."
Heyman said Foley still doesn't get it. He said he doesn't resent what he has accomplished. "My problem is not what you've accomplished. My problem is what you've become. My problem is the fact that you took your legacy and you threw it away to become a cheap shot taking, Lita hand smooching, Edge ass kissing whore." Foley tipped over his podium. Heyman said he and Edge are going to experience first-hand that Dreamer and Funk are more than capable of living up to the standards of what you set back in the day of ECW, but the standard he and Edge set for hardcore at WrestleMania. He told them to pay attention at One Night Stand for the new vision for ECW. "ECW won't just be about barbed wire or baseball bats and flaming tables and piledriving women. We'll still have some of that. But it's a whole lot more." He asked Mick if he knew ECW was coming back full time. He said because of that, it's open season and anyone from Raw or Smackdown can jump to ECW. He also said Vince McMahon has given him two draft picks, one from Raw and one from Smackdown. Foley predicted RVD would be his Raw draft pick. He said the only reason RVD liked the old ECW so much was because he was truly was a high-flyer. Foley pinched his fingers together to signify a joint being smoked. Heyman said his Kool-Aid came in many forms. Heyman predicted RVD will beat Cena and rechristen the WWE Title the ECW World Title. Heyman then revealed that his pick from Smackdown embodies the new vision for ECW. He said that man is here tonight. Out walked Kurt Angle to his full ring intro. Angle then attacked Foley. Ross said he couldn't believe what Heyman just revealed. "The Olympian is going to ECW!" Angle suplexed Foley out of the ring. "This is earth-shattering!" shouted Ross. "This sucks!" shouted Lawler. "This could change the course of the business," said Ross.
