second part
"Ok, Donghae, just breathe," Kibum murmured. "Keep walking and just breathe."
"Kibum, I'm fine," Donghae snapped irritably. "Would you stop saying that?"
Siwon sniggered as Kibum glared at the brunate.
"Fine," Kibum growled. "But I hope you remember that they hand out these degrees in alphabetical order."
At that, Donghae paled.
'Lee Donghae..Lee Eunhyuk… Oh God! please let there be someone in between!'
Siwon sighed, shooting Kibum a disapproving look.
"They present them in alphabetical order, yes," he said. "But they make us into group . Were you and Eunhyuk in the same group?"
Donghae sighed in relief.
"No," he said happily. "We weren't!"
"There you go," Siwon said. "Well, we should split to our groups."
Kibum nodded, kissing Siwon lightly on the lips. Donghae smiled at the sight before wandering over to where the rest of his class was sitting. Dropping into his seat, he scanned the row. Further up, Sungmin sat with his head in hands. Donghae let his gaze skip over the boy quickly. He hadn't spoken to Sungmin since the incident… Sungmin spent most of the week with Eunhyuk.
"Eunhyuk!" Sungmin's voice sliced through Donghae's musings. "Over here!"
Sinking into his seat, Donghae tried to block out the pink monster's voice, but couldn't help it.
Looking up, Donghae looked Eunhyuk over. The robes failed to hide his lean body. Donghae trailed his gaze over the red head hungrily before he could stop himself. Dropping his head quickly, a single tear drifted down the brunate's face.
Stomping towards Sungmin's group, Eunhyuk didn't even bother to scan the crowd. If he did, he knew all he would see would be the cold glares of his former classmates. Apparently the 'incident' with Donghae was leaked, and Eunhyuk got what he wanted. Everyone hated him.
Eunhyuk took a step towards Sungmin, but a flash of chocolate caught his eyes. Looking up, he caught sight of Donghae; the brunate was gazing at the ground, a heartbroken expression on his face, sad enough to break Eunhyuk's icy cold heart.
'Donghae..' Eunhyuk's thought was cut off when Sungmin asked him a question, "You already prepared your speeches?"
As a Class President and Valedictorian, Siwon was technically the one who required to give a speeches, but without a clear reason, Siwon can't give the speeches and Eunhyuk as the vice will do the job.
'the speeches..'
----
Donghae tried to tear his gaze away from the podium, but his eyes were locked on the red head about to make his speech. Eunhyuk leaned on the lectern, obviously deep in thought. Suddenly, Eunhyuk's head shot up, his eyes locking straight onto Donghae's. Donghae swallowed, unable to look away from those dark eyes. Eunhyuk maintained his gaze as he began to speak.
"Alright, I'm gonna cut the 'Congratulations we did it' crap and get down to it," Eunhyuk said simply, breaking eye contact with the brunate and letting his gaze roam over the crowd. Donghae took a deep breath, finally able to breath again. There was a collective murmur from the amassed students. "High School. We all hate it as much as we love it. But what exactly is it? A secondary level education? The third stage of our schooling life? Fuck no."
The teachers behind Eunhyuk stirred, some frowning others hiding smirks.
"It's simple," Eunhyuk continued. "High School is about one thing: Status. Whether it's from who's the best at sport to who's the best looking. We never stop trying to climb that social ladder. But do you know where that gets you?"
Eunhyuk paused, letting his words sink it.
"No where," Eunhyuk snarled. "I've been there, I've been at the top, and you all know this. And I hated it. I despised it. So what did I do? I set out to ruin my reputation. But my plans all failed. They backfired. I told you all I prefer guys to girls and what happens? The next day half of you are suddenly bi. I make friends with the three most troubled, feminim and socially dead students and what happens? I make three great friends and they get a reputation boost."
The students began to murmur among themselves, while the teachers had a whispered debate. Obviously some wanted to pull the plug on Eunhyuk. Other wanted to let him talk.
"So I went to drastic measures," Eunhyuk snapped, slamming his fist down on the lectern. "I decided to fuck some loser and then ditch him, in order to show you all what a cold bastard I am."
At this, Donghae flinched. The people around him gave him sympathetic looks.
"But that backfired too!" Eunhyuk shouted. "Instead of ruining my reputation, I fell in love! I fell hard."
The volume of the students' increased until Eunhyuk slammed his fist down on the lectern again.
"Shut up and listen!" He shouted. "Yeah, I fell in love. But then he found out about the whole thing. And he left me. After he promised he wouldn't. And then my plan worked. You all hate me now. And you know what? I don't give a fuck! I don't care that it worked. I lost him. I love him, and I lost him. So fuck you all."
Taking a deep breath, Eunhyuk regained his composure.
"So what is High School?" He continued in a calm voice. "High School is fucked up."
Stalking away from the lectern, Eunhyuk returned to his seat as the students began to talk louder. Leeteuk returned to the lectern, trying to regain control of the students.
Donghae sat shocked, unable to move.
'He loves me… he really loves me… but… he was only using me…'
Tears spilled down the brunate's cheeks, splashing his robes.
'What did I do?'
-----
"Well, Eunhyuk, that was quite unexpected," Hankyung drawled. "A very… passionate speech."
"Really..?" Eunhyuk replied, scanning the crowd. Hankyung raised his eyebrows.
"I don't believe that's a proper answer," he said. Eunhyuk glared at him.
"I don't care, hyung," he growled, eyes turning back to the crowd.
"Hmm," Hankyung responded, looking over the crowd himself. Eunhyuk's head whipped around to glare at his older brother.
"Where's Heechul-hyung?" Eunhyuk asked grudgingly. Hankyung didn't respond. "hyung?"
"Talking to Donghae," Hankyung growled out. Eunhyuk stiffened instantly.
"Go find him," he muttered. "I know you want to talk to him too."
Hankyung looked down at his brother for a minute before he nodded slowly.
"Very well," he murmured. Hesitating, he put a hand on his little brother's head. "I'm proud of you, Eunhyuk."
Eunhyuk swiped at the hand, glaring at his brother. Hankyung calmly sauntered off, leaving a slightly blushing Eunhyuk behind.
"Stupid Hyung…" Eunhyuk muttered. "I wonder if he means me graduating or my graduation speech…"
"Eunhyuk!" An enthusiastic voice shouted. "Hey!"
Sungmin dashed up to the red hair, grinning happily.
"Finally! We're free!" He shouted, clapping the red hair on the back. Eunhyuk smiled at him.
"Yes,we are." Sungmin continued to yammer on about random things, undeterred by Eunhyuk's silence. Eunhyuk calmly observed the other guy.
'God knows why, but he's the only one that's stuck by me…'
"Sungmin," Eunhyuk interrupted his chatter abruptly. "Thank you."
Sungmin blinked a couple of times, unsure of what Eunhyuk meant.
"For what?" He asked.
"Sticking by me," Eunhyuk mumbled. Sungmin grinned at him.
"No problem, Eunhyukie!" He said, hugging the non responsive red hair. "You're a great mate!"
"Haha," Eunhyuk muttered, pulling away from the Sungmin's embrace. "Thanks…"
"Sungmin!" A voice behind them shouts. They both turn to see who was hailing the feminim boy.
Kyuhyun waved to his boyfriend, gesturing for him to come towards him. Sungmin threw Eunhyuk an apologetic look before dashing over to where Kyuhyun, Kibum and Siwon were waiting. Eunhyuk watched the group quietly, envy filling him at the sight of their happiness. Kibum looked away from Kyuhyun and met Eunhyuk's eyes. To the red hair's surprise, the pale guy smiled slightly, grasping Siwon's hand and crossing towards him, dragging the tale guy with him.
Eunhyuk stiffened, but otherwise didn't move. Kibum and Siwon stopped in front of him.
"Eunhyuk," Kibum greeted him, inclining his head.
"Kibum," Eunhyuk murmured, returning the gesture. "Siwon…"
Siwon nodded to Eunhyuk, his grip tightening on Kibum's hand.
"Eunhyuk…" He muttered. "Nice speech…"
"Thank you," Eunhyuk said coldly. Kibum shot Siwon a reproving look.
"Eunhyuk…" Kibum began. "We are sorry for what happ-"
"Stop," Eunhyuk said, raising a hand. "You don't have to apologize. You were being good friends to Donghae, and that makes it fine by me."
Siwon sighed, looking down.
"No, Eunhyuk," he said. "I truly owe you an apology. For what I did. I am sorry. I really shou-"
"It's ok, Siwon," Eunhyuk interrupted. "I know."
Siwon sighed in relief. Eunhyuk, being as proud as Siwon, knew how hard it was for him to make apologizes.
"Excuse me," Siwon muttered. "I have to congratulate Ryeowook."
"I'll go with you," Kibum murmured. "It's about time he found out…"
Siwon smiled at his boyfriend, tugging his hand. They nodded to Eunhyuk in farewell.
-----
"Wow, I never thought I'd see the day," Kangin muttered. "You actually graduated."
Donghae felt like punching the big guy on the arm. "Nah, you know you're proud."
"That I am," Kangin said, ruffling Donghae's mop of brown hair.
"Stop that, hyung," Donghae growled. Kangin laughed, taking another swig from his smuggled in soju bottle.
"Hey!" A loud voice interrupted. "Hand that over!"
Kangin jumped guiltily, turning to face the angry principal.
"Ahh, Teukiee!" He said. "It's been too lon-"
"Save me the talk and hand it over!" he snapped. Kangin sighed, handing over the half-empty bottle. Leeteuk grabbed it and took a deep swig.
"Donghae!" A voice shrieked, the only warning before Donghae was tackled into a hug.
"Ahh!" He cried. "Get off!"
"I'm refuse to!" The person shouted, hugging him tighter.
"H-Heechul hyung?" Donghae asked, hugged him back.
Kangin and Leeteuk watch amused as the brunates who could be related hugged each other.
"Not that this isn't sweet," Kangin interrupted. "But do you realize how gay you look?"
Heechul tugged Donghae to his feet, still clutching the brunate with one arm. He held the other out to Kangin.
"Hello, I'm Heechul" he said, smiling. Kangin shook his hands cautiously.
"Heechul, don't traumatize Donghae's family," an icy cold voice interrupted. Leeteuk and Kangin looked the newcomer over.
"Hankyung, is that you?" Leeteuk said suddenly. "I haven't seen you in years!"
Hankyung inclined his head gracefully.
"It's good to see you too, Leeteuk-hyung," he replied. "It's been a long time, back when you were a simple Hangul teacher. And you must be Kangin, Donghae's guardian?"
Kangin nodded, holding his hand out. Hankyung shook it.
"Pleased to meet you," Kangin mumbled. Donghae struggled out of Heechul's arms.
"Hankyung hyung!" Donghae shouted, hugging the elder. "I haven't seen you in ages!"
"It's been too long, Donghae," Hankyung agreed. "I've missed you. We all have."
Donghae didn't miss the double meaning to Hankyung's words. He clutched the white hair tighter.
"I-I've missed you all too," he whispered. Hankyung rubbed his back softly before letting him go.
"That was a… 'Interesting' speech made by the vice class president," Leeteuk mused. "Don't you think, Hankyung?"
Donghae stiffened as Hankyung nodded.
"Oh yes," he agreed. "Blunt, to the point, honest."
Donghae shivered lightly as Leeteuk nodded.
"Exactly," he said. "But, that's always been the vice class president's way. He occasionally makes mistakes, but he's always able to correct them, given a chance…"
"Ok stop it!" Donghae snapped. "I'll talk to him! Just stop it!"
Stalking off, Donghae straightened his robe irritably. Leeteuk took another swig from his soju bottle, watching the brunate go.
"Wow, he caught on," he murmured. "Usually we have to spell it out for him…"
Kangin produced a new soju bottle, drinking himself.
"Yeah, he's getting smarter," he agreed. Heechul gave them an incredulous look.
"Didn't they just basically spell it out for him?" He asked Hankyung in a low voice. Hankyung shook his head.
"Don't argue with drunken old people," he muttered.
-----
Flittering through the crowd, Donghae nodded to the people that hailed him. At one point he darted past Sungmin and Kyuhyun. Looking around, his breath caught in his throat as he spotted Eunhyuk, unmistakable, even from the back, by his dark red hair. Talking to Siwon and Kibum, they all seemed slightly uncomfortable. Looking up, Siwon caught sight of the brunate. Saying something, he and Kibum moved on, leaving Eunhyuk alone. Taking a deep breath, Donghae decided that now was as good a time as ever. Stepping forward, he prepared himself.
"E-Eunhyuk?"
Stiffening, Eunhyuk turned immediately. Sure enough, Donghae was standing there, staring pointedly at his eyes, his brown hair rustled by the wind, his bright brown eyes locked on the red head.
"Donghae…" he breathed, stepping closer. "Donghae…"
Flinching at the warmth, affection and love in Eunhyuk's voice, Donghae deeper his gaze on Eunhyuk's. Eunhyuk's eyes burned into Donghae's, causing the brunate to take a few steps forward, unintentionally drawn to Eunhyuk.
"I-I… we need to talk," Donghae managed to stutter out. Eunhyuk nodded, jerking his head away from the crowd. Donghae nodded in return, following the red hair.
Picking their way through the crowd, Eunhyuk led Donghae away from the mass and through the school. Stopping at an empty bench, Eunhyuk gestured for the brunate to sit.
Heart thumping, Donghae sank onto the bench. Eunhyuk settled next to him, too close for comfort.
"Donghae," Eunhyuk began. "Will you let me tell my side of the story?"
Donghae bit his lip, thinking.
'What's to stop him from lying again? But… maybe…'
"Y-Yes…" Donghae muttered. "G-Go ahead…"
Sighing in relief, Eunhyuk relaxed slightly before nodding to himself.
"Very well, please, hear me out," Eunhyuk asked, desperately. Donghae nodded. "I-It's true. I was using you to kill my reputation."
Donghae flinched, causing Eunhyuk to wince.
"But, I fell in love with you," Eunhyuk said hurriedly. "I was going to dump you that night, after we first had sex, but I couldn't. I realized I love you, I really truly do. So I stayed quiet, I kept you, and I was happy. Happier than I've ever been. I wasn't alone again."
The words struck Donghae harshly.
'I've been alone before… Whenever Kanginn hyung went away… it's horrible…'
"But Siwon… he saw in you what I see in you," Eunhyuk whispered. "And Kibum, he hated that I was lying to you. And Kibum is so in love with Siwon he would listen to anything he says. Siwon told Kibum that I was trying to get you to fall in love with me first."
"But I already told you I love you," Donghae interrupted. "I already told you…"
Eunhyuk smiled, leaning closer.
"Yes… you already told me that you love me," he said, putting specific emphasis on the present tense of the word, causing Donghae to blush. "But Siwon didn't know that. His whole plan was to get us broken up so he can claim you."
"I'm not a possession!" Donghae snapped before he can stop himself. Blushing furiously, he looked at the ground. "And anyway… if I was, I belong to you… not Siwon…"
Heart swelling, Eunhyuk leaned forward, reaching a hand out to stroke Donghae's face. The simple contact almost made Donghae moan, the result of denying Eunhyuk's touch for over a week. Donghae leaned into the touch for a moment before jerking away.
"K-Keep talking…" Donghae mumbled, looking at the ground again. Eunhyuk nodded, his hand retreating.
"So Siwon guilt tripped Kibum into telling you what happened," Eunhyuk said softly. "And Siwon told me that Kibum was telling you… I went straight to your house, looking for you. You weren't there."
"I-I was a-at Kibum's," Donghae stuttered. "Siwon came…"
Eunhyuk's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"He was there…" he muttered. "The whole time…"
"Y-Yes…" Donghae muttered. Eunhyuk's eyes jerked back to him.
"One question," Eunhyuk said with a frown. "Why didn't Siwon- Why aren't you-"
Unable to say it, Eunhyuk let Donghae piece it together.
"W-We tried," the brunate stammered. Eunhyuk's gaze began to tinge red. "I-I kissed him… but… we didn't feel anything… It's not like-"
Donghae cut himself off, embarrassed.
"It's not like what?" Eunhyuk demanded. Donghae didn't answer. "What?"
"It's not like kissing you!" Donghae blurted out. "When I kissed Siwon, it felt like, nothing! Skin on skin, like kissing my hand!"
Eunhyuk held in a snicker at that.
"But when I kissed you…" Donghae continued, face turning scarlet. "I-I felt heat, and cold, and electricity. I felt happy, like I belonged there, attached to your mouth…"
"You do…" Eunhyuk murmured. Donghae ignored him, his blush worsening.
"So I told Siwon to go try Kibum," he said. "And I guess he did…"
"Then I rang?" Eunhyuk guessed. Donghae nodded.
"Yeah… I had fallen asleep, and you woke me up," Donghae muttered. "And I answered it without thinking…"
"Oh Donghae," Eunhyuk whispered, leaning closer. "Is there any hope for us? Any hope at all?"
Donghae bit his lip, thinking. His mind flashed through all the moments he ever shared with Eunhyuk.
"It's ok, Donghae." Eunhyuk whispered. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Y-You promised Eunhyuk," Donghae whispered. "You promised you wouldn't hurt me…"
"I-I know, Donghae," Eunhyuk said softly. "I'm sorry… I didn't mean to break that promise…"
"B-But I promised too…" Donghae whispered. "I promised not to leave you…"
Eunhyuk nodded, unsure where Donghae was going.
"H-hyuk!" Donghae gasped, suddenly bursting into tears. "I don't kn-know what t-to do!"
Throwing himself into Eunhyuk's waiting arms, Donghae sobbed against the red hair's chest, clutching him tight. The familiar feeling of being in Eunhyuk's arms caused the brunate to cry harder.
"Donghae," Eunhyuk whispered, stroking the brunate's hair. "It's up to you. I want you back. I need you back, but if you don't want me-"
Eunhyuk broke off, burying his face in Donghae's hair.
"If you don't want me," Eunhyuk's voice was muffled. "I won't pressure you."
Donghae sobbed softly, clutching Eunhyuk tighter.
"Damn you!" He cried. "Damn you for making me love you so much!"
"I'm not sorry," Eunhyuk replied, dipping his head down to look at the brunate. "I'm not sorry."
"I know," Donghae sobbed, meeting Eunhyuk's gaze. "I don't want you to be…"
Taking a chance, Eunhyuk leaned in, kissing the brunate deeply. Donghae almost cried again, pulling the red hair closer, opening his mouth. Eunhyuk slipped his tongue in, exploring the familiar territory. Moaning softly, Donghae pressed himself against Eunhyuk as much as possible. Eunhyuk held him tighter, stroking his back softly.
Tearing away, Donghae gasped in air.
For a moment they just stay like that, gaze into each other, before Donghae talk, "Can you promise me? Again. That you wouldn't hurt me anymore?"
Leaning in, Eunhyuk pushed a gently kiss to Donghae's lips.
"I swear." Eunhyuk said. "With all my life. I love you, Lee Donghae."
"I-I love you too…" Donghae whispered. "So much…"
And Donghae can't be more happpy than he is now. He was sure he is the happiest person in the world.
“Let’s go home,” he suggested. “I’m sick of this place.”
“Home it is,” Eunhyuk agreed. “Our home.”
Donghae rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
“Don’t get all sappy on me,” he warned. Eunhyuk smirked.
“You’re the girl, remember?” He pointed out. Donghae frowned.
“I’m not a girl, Hyukie!” He snapped, barely noticing that they were now out of the school gate and heading for Eunhyuk's car.
Eunhyuk smirked again.“Of course you are,” he said simply. “And on our wedding day you’ll wear such a pretty dress…”
“WHAT?! W-wed-wedding??! ” Donghae screamed, running after the now-fleeing red head. “Hyukie, you jerk!!”
“Love you too, Hae,” Eunhyuk called over his shoulder.
Donghae grinned, stopping momentarily. Eunhyuk looked over his shoulder and halted as well. For a moment they just stared at each other, emotions conveyed with their eyes, and then Eunhyuk held out his hand to the brunate. Donghae ran forward and took it, smiling at the red head.
“Love you, Donghae,”
“Love you, Hyukie,”
