a petition - because really, how can it be a gala without Johnny?

So, I'm not sure how many people know the news by now [there's a post down below about it with a link to the article] but Johnny Weir is currently excluded from the Exhibition Gala. I know that traditionally, only the top 5 skaters and the home skaters perform, but the officials do have the right to invite whoever they choose and ... well, call me ( Read more... )

I checked just now: 3,065 and counting, baby! \o/

Also, reading the message from the fans in China who had to get around the censorship just to vote, and did anyway, wow. They're awesome.

YAY! 3,140 now and it's still going up, up up!

Yeah, I saw this thing on Johnny's facebook page where a chinese fan was saying how they had to use mirror sites for youtube, facebook ... just about everything, so they could see videos of him. They're so awesome, I wish there was a way to make it easier for them, but the Chinese government ... well, that's the way they are. =\ the censoring of websites there is ridiculous.

it's so nice seeing signatures from people across the globe, it just goes to show how universal Johnny's appeal is.

Just signed. I'm sooooo disappointed because I have tickets to the Gala but it won't be the same without Johnny. :(

okay, that was definitely major HTML fail no wonder I stopped the whole texting/driving thing before you have tickets to the gala? that's so cool! =D I wish I could go (school can't be that important, right? ...)

I know! I mean, really, do they honestly think they can have a good fun gala without Johnny?

Signing...do you think we'll be listened to? I mean, they didn't even pay attention to the boos against their biases after the SP.

I'm not sure =\ I mean it would be great if they listened to us, but I'm not positive whAt the rules for the gala are, I couldn't find them online anywhere. But even if they don't listen...at least we're making our displeasure known right? Besides, the booing was short, Johnny got them to quiet down about it ...

True, it was a bit longer after the SP though, I think. I'll knock on wood for them to hear us out. I don't even really care about the Gala specifically, I just want them to know that I don't like their blatant bias against. I don't know that he deserved to podium, but he deserved more than 6th place, I'd even be OK with 5th.

Huh. I don't remember too much about booing after the SP scores, but I don't even think I was around to see it on TV when it happened, so idk. I just want for these officials to realise that it's so obvious they have something against Johnny and we're not happy with that. at all. You'd think they would be a bit more accepting of the man who's one of figure skating's biggest attractions.

Johnny already said in an interview that because figure skating is such a political sport, there was no way he could've gotten a medal after Lysacek skated, but that doesn't meant they should be allowed to get away with shunting him aside to 6th place to be forgotten!
