Nyota checked her appearance in the mirror one last time, brushing a stray eyelash off her cheek and straightening her top. Jim brushed down the front of his jacket, grinning at the compliment. "I try, sometimes," he joked, but couldn't help but give a soft whistle at the sight of her. "You, you look beautiful as always and then some." There was, in Jim's well experience opinion, no woman more beautiful and fierce than Nyota Uhura. After all, it had kept him interested in going after her long after she made it clear he was a farm boy who did animals and little more.

He bowed and offered his arm to her with that grin still in place. "We have reservations in twenty minutes, so if you're ready?"

Slipping her arm through his, Nyota grinned back at him, secretly pleased at that low whistle and the genuine admiration she saw on his face, more so than any of his blatant pickup attempts back at the Academy. "Reservations? I'm impressed," she teased as they walked down the corridor to the lifts.

Once they emerged in the lobby downstairs, she shot him a curious glance. "Where exactly are you taking me, or is it a surprise?"

"Someone was enterprising enough to start a little Italian cafe just down the walk. I came by cycle, but it'd be a great walk if you're up to it." He glanced down at her boots, knowing plenty of women who didn't want to walk anywhere due to their footwear in the past.

She caught the glance at her boots and smirked, elbowing Jim gently as they crossed the lobby. "Italian sounds perfect. Lead the way," she told him. Impractical as some of her shoes were, Nyota had one simple requirement for them all: she had to be able to walk in them. Some were more suited for city walking than others, true, but she would have no trouble keeping up with him tonight despite the sleek, tapered heels.

"I haven't seen much of you since we arrived. Keeping out of trouble, I hope."
