I honestly don't get how people got from decapitated Roman saints to heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. Personally, I don't see any connection there.

this makes no sense to me, st. valentine's day, wtf chocolate and death do not mix

Not every year. Only when a thousand people come up to me prattling about how excited the are for Valentine's day, and then get all pissed off when I tell them it's to celebrate the death of a priest who was beaten with clubs and then beheaded.
