02: Hellooooo nurse

Apr 08, 2010 19:49

Okay. I can put up with the sexist remarks from a good portion of the people here. I can deal with having to do all of these chores. I can even deal with not talking about religion.

But really, a nurse? Are the men here really so blind that they can't stand to see a woman doing a better job in the ER then themselves?

sexism sucks, wtf is this, new to town, i'm a doctor not a _____

It is, but it's not one I'm trained for.

What's wrong with a woman being a nurse?

Though this town has funny ways of forcing mundane lifestyles on us. They made me a desk clerk. I don't think I worked a 9-5 job ever in my life.

There's nothing wrong with being a nurse, but it's not what I'm trained to do. It would be like putting a baker in charge of grilling.

Guess who likes shooting people and is actually from the 50's? This guy. bloodon_myknife April 10 2010, 15:23:04 UTC
What were you trained to do then?

I'm finding it frustrating, too. This sort of attitude towards women is completely foreign to me.

It's how things used to be, but I had hoped that humanity would move beyond it.

This sort of thing was normal for humans? I thought it was one of the strange unique things about Mayfield.

It was normal, in the past. But humans moved beyond it.

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that.

What's your practice, dear?

I'm still in GP right now, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go into surgery when I start my master's degree.

Ah, a student then? Allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Dr. Eirin Yagokoro. I specialize in pharmacology and diagnostics, though my experience allows me to work in just about any field possible.

It's nice to meet another doctor, especially in this place. I'm Ayako Matsuzaki.

You understand that men can be nurses as well, don't you?

itsanearthghost April 9 2010, 23:41:57 UTC
I know that, but how many women doctors have you seen in this place?

tohnoinversion April 10 2010, 14:18:59 UTC
Personally? I don't know any doctors.

Well you have to have been to a doctor at some point, right?
