Vanessa is really, really excited.

You see, every time she has to be apart from Zac, it's always a bit of a gamble. Maybe they'll see each other in a few days, maybe they'll see each other in a few weeks, maybe they'll see each other sometime for an hour penciled in next spring (okay, the last never happens) and it sucks. So being back in LA, even ( Read more... )

So Zac was planning on being all ready when Vanessa got here, he really was. He was going to have dealt with the mess in his bedroom and the kitchen was going to be clean and he was going to wear her favorite cologne and a clean t-shirt, all that ( ... )

She practically runs to his bedroom upon hearing his voice. It's his voice for real and she loves the sound, hearing it so clearly and not at all garbled like it would be over a phone line. She feels kind of silly, being so giddy and excited and ridiculous, but she is a girl and she is going to see her boyfriend and-oh.

He's shirtless, she thinks as she comes to a stop in the doorway. This she was not expecting, but it certainly is a pleasant surprise, one she is not objecting to at all. However, she suddenly feels shy, her breath caught in her throat as her heart pounds slightly at the sight of him. She smiles softly.

"Hi," she whispers, still standing in the doorway as she takes him in. She's so happy that he's real and that he's here and that she's here, she just wants to take in the moment just for a second. She still doesn't move. "I missed you."

The moment he catches sight of her, a smile blooms on his face, and he forgets he was looking for a t-shirt at all. She's here, and she looks every bit as perfect as she always does, and he's realizing that he really gets to hold her, touch her, kiss her this weekend, and it makes his chest feel just a little bit tight.

"Hey," he greets in return as he walks the dozen of feet that separate them and engulfs her in a hug. She fits right into his arms and his heart swells to smell her hair. He never realizes just how much he's missed her until he has her again, right here, and then for a moment he can't quite believe he was OK with being relegated to phone calls and texts and emails. "Missed you, too, 'm so glad you're here." He loosens his hold on her just so he can steal a first quick kiss. If he kisses her like he wants to right away, he might die of happiness. (He's allowed to be a little over-the-top, OK, he hasn't seen her in two weeks.) "They leave you alone after the airport?"

She nods and sighs, resting her cheek against his bare chest. She's been home for a few hours now, but standing there in his arms, feeling like she's engulfed in a warm blanket and breathing in his familiar scent, she's finally home.

"Yeah, they did, thank god," she says with a smile, looking up at him. She feels short, having to tilt her head back to look into his eyes and she giggles in spite of herself and rises up on her tip-toes to press a kiss to his lips. It feels too good to kiss him again. "Hopefully I can stay on the down low for at a couple more days."

She peers at him, looking over his features. "You don't seem to look any different, so I guess you haven't changed in two weeks. Or do you have any piercings and tattoos I don't know of?" She runs her thumbs over his cheekbones and is delighted that they feels exactly the same as it did the last time she touched them. Gosh, she missed him.
