Benihana birthday
today is sassy's 22nd birthday, even though she looks like she's 18. for her birthday celebration, she decided that we go to benihana. i had no idea what to expect since my initial thoughts about the restaurant were spatula twirling chefs and grills the size of car hoods.
We were greeted by our chef. but before our chef arrived, i imagined a cool japanese guy. instead we were greeted by a hispanic young man with a heavy mexican accent. i forgot his name so i'll just call him emilio. before he started cooking i asked him if it was alright if i took pictures of him in action. he said "sure! just don't show the FBI okay? *nervous laugh". i really don't know if he was kidding. with that said, this one's for you emilio!
he started off by twirling his spatula. the first thing he started making was fried rice. but first he scrambled eggs and made a chicken.
i told emilio it was sassy's birthday so he made her a heart out of the fried rice.
next he grilled onions and made a volcano. he even poured water into it to make it steam to mimic a real volcano!
next, emilio got to cooking our main dishes.
sassy was amazed with the cooking!
best beef julienne i ever had. what's beef julienne? i don't know, but it was really good.
the waitress came to our table with this delicious strawberry ice cream for sassy's birthday. she even took a picture of us...with HER camera. not my camera. the waitress' camera. pretty random.
a couple of minutes later she came back with a photo of us she had taken moments before. it all made sense now. the picture and border were free of charge! best birthday celebration ever at benihana's.
