"Giving the HPV vaccine to young women could be potentially harmful, because they may see it as a licence to engage in premarital sex,"

That is absolutely ridiculous. But then again I think we've come to expect that sort of thing from a good part of our population, havent we? Sad.

I found out our school doesnt even offer the vaccine, and I remember you talking about pressing your school to get it. How are you going about doing that?

Thankfully, our clinic does have the vaccine.
Since VCU does not, call the school clinic/health center and ask anyway. If/when they say no, ask why. Then ask how it could be implimented. If you are willing to make a big deal out of this (which is a good idea lol), you can write your school paper, as well as e-mail the president and ask why VCU doesn't have it (with a short explanation as to why its so inportant). Also, if you don't really feel like you can take it on alone, inform the young democrats/women's group/medical club (or whatever) that it is not available, they may want to get involved.

I don't know. That would be my course of action.

goddd that makes me so angry. so disgusted. of COURSE, of COURSE people would deny this to girls because of religious values. of COURSE it would be deemed "harmful" (most ridiculous statement ever).. i think everyone should get the vaccine as soon as possible. regardless of your sex life.. have you gotten it yet?

I've looked into it at our clinic and will probably get it this semester. It is relatively expensive and I think it is a 3-shot process, but I will set time aside sometime soon the make the appointment.

yeah, it's three shots. i know at vcu each shot is $120. But a lot of insurance carriers are even covering for it. I know mine covers it under immunizations, which is really tight.
sorry, i had to put my two cents in. I had an appointment about it earlier this week.
ps- i miss you!!
