Why is it, when one knows their actions have negative (even disasterous) side effects, albeit sometimes indirect or delayed, they continue in the name of convenience? Or is it habit, or because it is considered "normal"?  This isn't a specific attack or rant, just genuine curiosity.  It probably has something to do with the lack of thought that ( Read more... )

I'd agree with the whole thing about convenience and habit. I know I continue to do a lot of the stupid things I do just because that's easier than trying to change. There might also be a little bit of hope mixed in there, too. You know, the hope that your bad habits won't bring you down. Some might call that delusion, but potato, po-tah-to.

Could you explain what you mean by the hope comment? It sounds interesting, but it still seems to reinforce the idea that "if you don't think about it, it will go away."

p.s. If you read about the meat, egg, fishing, pesticide, and dairy industries, you might be suspicious too lol. It's not paranoia, but what I found out was enough to make me vegan.

Hmm, you're right. I guess I didn't think about that.

And wow, you're vegan now? One of my friends in college has been vegetarian her entire life and recently tried to go vegan. Yeah...she gave up after about 2 weeks because it was just too hard to keep track of everything. She said that she technically wasn't even allowed to use toothpaste.
I'm not accusing you of anything, of course; I'm sure you stil brush your teeth.
Well, good luck with the vegan thing and everything else.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I know this seems odd, but would you mind telling me what I wrote in your yearbook senior year?
