I would call "juicy tomato-basil salad" a high rather than a middle.

The tomato plant is pining for you. It has only 5 surviving fruits.

as far as aesthetics are concerned, i find both quite pleasing. practicality is overrated really. make a still life of it and all will be well!

Agreed, but only to a point. Practicality isn't overrated when it enables you to make salsa.
