I'm working out of one of our Midlands offices today and the team that I normally squat with (the business term being hot-desking) have moved offices so I'm borrowing the office of one of the managers who's not in today and I've realised that these are my perfect working conditions. I used to have that with my Solicitor's job. I loved having my own office and loved having my name on the door. The only slight downside was that the seeing out into the open plan bit meant that I had to monitor the staff and bollock those who weren't working which never made me or the other Solicitor's veyr popular.

I loved that about my last job - for 9 months I shared an office with one person, who spent most of that time off sick. I could listen to music, look out of the window and generally enjoy peace and quiet. As it was also around the time of the PHB, my office also provided an escape for my vexed workmates who were constantly popping in for a gossip!

And now it's open plan with section heads, line managers and directors all together...... :(

Own office nope been there done that, the isolation drove me up the wall.

So much so that I cleared space and invited others into my office. We now have our own little techy heaven. Bliss :D
