To suggest that no body cares about an argument unless its based on empathy would suggest that all arguments have to be based on empathy for people to care about them.
The premise here is wrong:
All arguments do not have to begin with empathy.
An argument works like this.
It is based on a premise, that premise can be true or false. An emotional argument can still be a true argument or a false argument regaurdless of whether it is an emotional argument.
For example: I may be upset that you lost my watch. It dosn't mean you losing the watch makes it false because I am upset with you for losing it. Furthermore calling you careless for losing the watch would be applying a logical structure thus making my argument both valid and sound.
This is the mechanics of how it works: A valid argument is one that follows a logical or accepted structure. A sound argument is one that is not based on a false premise but it must also follow a logical or accepted structure.
