Friend needs Life On Mars

Aug 12, 2006 22:23

My good friend lydiabell has been watching Life on Mars on BBC America, not realizing that BBC America has cut the show to pieces. This is a travesty that must be addressed. I myself have the show on my laptop (thanks to the lovely merryish), but could only copy it for her in .avi format, and her stubborn (yet very nice!) husband hates to watch shows on a little ( Read more... )

Uh, can't help with burning things in a DVD-player-playable format (dude, if I knew how to do that, I'd be a happy fan) but I plan to pick up the British DVDs in October and find out if my player really is as region-free as it claims :g:. So if she has a region-free player and hasn't found another source in the next few months, I could loan them to her as soon as I've rewatched them (and made the partner watch them with me)...

Unfortunately, lydiabell tells me that her player is a total region-slave. But many thanks for the offer!! And have a safe, uneventful trip back home. :)

Whoa! A post by itsthewa! Amazing!

I could do this for you but I'd need the .avi's. (Which would be cool, 'cause I'd like to see the show, too.)

You could also do it yourself by downloading the software and tutorial from this torrent.

Cheers!

Well, first of all, let's talk about your own sad lack of Life on Mars, woman. This must be addressed! I will either send you some disks, or find someone who can tell me how to upload the eps to somewhere in the computerland ether, where you could then download and watch them.

Uh, as you can read there, I am not the canniest hand at technology (this has only been my third post since the inception of this lj, and I'm still pretty convinced that my typing will cause some sort of explosion any minute now). But I will prevail, because fannish love is just too important to let the fear of spontaneous combustion win!

And thank you kindly for offering to mess around with the .avi's for lydiabell! :) It may turn out to be unnecessary if way2busymom's disks work out, but we shall see.

Let me look into this whole uploading thing, and I will get back to you soon.

All must see Life on Mars!

I made a VCD of Life on Mars and suprisingly it does play on my Phillips dvd player. The spouse watched it. Not sure if I remember HOW I did it, but I would be most willing to try again....

And mostly I wanted to just use the shiny new icon that my friend overworked made for me....

Oh and? You should totally do this more often....the posting thing. I was impressed.

My goodness. You're right here in Champaign with me and lydiabell and you've got disks that have worked! It doesn't get much easier than that!! I'm definitely going to have to try this blegging thing more often. {g}

I'm sure lydiabell would be more than happy to try your stuff. Thank you very much!

::rueful bow:: Oh, yes. Three posts in three years. I'm on a roll! ;)
