First off, way to go on this!! I agree with you, and think there are several things fundamentally wrong with the way the U.S. carries out elections; First off, we all know they are a 'two' party system, but deep down that isn't really the case. The Republicans are all pretty much right-wing bible-thumping crackpots, it's true, but keep in mind the 'Democrates', while more left wing it's true, sits about where our Canadaian Alliance Party does. Scary, I know. In Canada we are spoiled with the fact that we actually have range of parties representing a range of views; This leads into another big problem in the States: Voter apathy

I actually forgot to put that in...
Democracy only works if everyone votes, and apparently there were about 4000 Republican voters who stayed home last election but won't this time. And yes, there should be a seperation between church and state, but that hasn't happened since, like, ever. Canada's actually not too bad at it.
Also, isn't it interesting that when Bush entered his term as President, there was a $127 billion dollar budget surplus, and now there's a $413 billion dollar deficit???
I agree completely with 'I' (the other person who commented). I am very impressed with this piece of writing and with most of the opinions you express in it. Did you wirte this just for us (your lj readers)? It reads like a good newsmagazine article.
Thanks. I just really wanted to get my mind off of things and put all my thoughts into writing. And especially after watching the news, and reading all articles I could get my hands on for this election, I tried to be informed before I wrote it.
That, and the Americans who are voting on whether or not Bush or Kerry believe in God is just stupid...
