Well, I don't know. I mean, triangles have 3 sides by the definition the we made up for them. It's not like no one had ever seen a triangle but just assumed one had three sides. They drew one (or whatever) and said, "This has three lines on the outside (sides), and it is going to be called a triangle." I mean, some people will say that God exists by definition in the same way that a triangle does, like, I think Anselm or one of those people has the argument that God is defined as the greatest thing that can be thought, and the greatest thing that can be thought has to exist or it wouldn't actually be the greatest thing that can be thought, blah blah blah. But, you know, if you believe in God you wouldn't believe that we made up the definition/idea of God, so I don't think you would believe that it was a given in the same way that 2 + 2 = 4. But, you know, that might not make sense. Maybe I am not thinking of it correctly.

i pretty much agree with bev. but anyway who said the existence of God is a basic belief(i may have misunderstood the definition of basic belief)? but, anyway, like, we made up math and triangles. triangles always have three sides bc a person said they do and we all accept it. i mean, you are not exactly accepting these beliefs w/o evidence, you just don't really need evidence bc they are really just labels. like, you could say that's not a triangle bc there's no evidence for it i guess, but that would just be saying you want to call it something else bc triangles do exist in nature and they existed before they had a name and all, and i guess you could say the same thing about God if you believe in Him, but not everyone accepts the existence of God the way they do a triangle, because God isn't just a shape or something, i mean, if you believe in God in the traditional since you wouldn't say that God is just a label, because that would be like saying God exists bc we say God exists, and that's not the way that God is generally
