Hello, Miss Williams.

You may not know this, but my inmate O'Brien is currently locked up in zero for-well, for shooting me. I write from where I'm laid up in the infirmary.

In any case, the word "doublethink" is one peculiar to his world specifically, and generally one only picks it up if one has talked to him or read the novel 1984. Hence the general curiosity as to where you'd picked it up-had you learned it from him, it might suggest that he was trying to teach you in the ways of it.

Una, please.

Well, I'm glad he hasn't tried to interfere with you, then. Did someone get you a copy of the book yet?

No, I did not know there were a book.

Shall I read it? I am only now reading a book by H. P. Lovecraft.

Are you certain you don't remember where you've read it? We're asking to ensure your safety, Miss Williams, not to condemn you. You refer to the language of a man who's just committed murder.

...I...

I think, perhaps, I may have read it in the library. It is only a word I recall and cannot remember where I did see it.

I do not know this man.

Do you remember generally where in the library you found it, perhaps? If he's been leaving notes for people... hmm.

I do not recall. I do spend much time in the library, as you know. You asked that I should work there.
