Books and Reading

I enjoy reading Iain Banks (both with the M for science fiction and without for .. not science fiction) but he's an author who can have a dark turn that precludes me from reading too many of his books in a year. That dark turn can get downright disturbing in the case of Use of Weapons or The Wasp Factory (no M. on that book).

*Really!* Well, thanks for the tip ... it's good to know that, as one of the things I enjoyed about Player of Games was that it wasn't so relentlessly painful and dark.

I too have been horrible about reading for quite awhile... I'm lucky if I can get thru one or two books a year anymore since I only ever read in bed. Books sit on my nightstand and gather dust because I'm just too damn tired.

Having Stanza on my iPod Touch has definitely helped though. I can now sneak in a few pages at random times in random places. Over the past year or so, I've read the first Raffles book, about half of a PG Wodehouse, and I'm about done with a gonzo history of Rudolf II's court. A marked improvement, but still barely a drop in the bucket compared to the impressive numbers I used to pull. ;)
