Farnsworth would have liked to have a productive day in the office for this ridiculous Parents' Weekend nonsense, where he could go over his paperwork enough to be able to pretend he knew who little Billy and Susie were when their parents came in to discuss their abysmal futures, but, alas, he was far too distracted by an unfortunate crustacean ( Read more... )

Scully had mentioned Professor Farnsworth. "Crackpot" had been the kindest term after a week or so.

Mulder just had to meet the guy.

"Professor Farnsworth? I'm Billy Scully, Dana's brother." He spotted Dr. Zoidberg. "Hey, Doc! How's that check-up going?"

"What?" asked Farnsworth, looking up myopically at the man who entered the room. "Who?"

Zoidberg, meanwhile, was waving his claws happily. "Billy! It goes good! How goes the sprogling's development?"

"Great, I'm planning on taking a walk late tonight, hopefully it'll help it really get a wingspan," Mulder told him.

He waved to Farnsworth again, then made a gesture around chest-height. "Redhead, short, looks like she's grinding her teeth a lot?"

Rube felt it was important to check up George's teachers, while he was here. It was expected, and he liked to try not to make waves. Also, he was curious. He wanted to be sure they were treating her right.

He was prepared for all kinds of unusual things, but he wasn't expecting a gigantic crustacean to be in the office -- that just wasn't kosher.

After an initial moment of surprise he shrugged. "Now, which of you two distinguished gentlemen is Professor Farnsworth?"

Zoidberg was just about to answer by pointing his claws toward the Professor, but the Professor intervened with lifting a hand and asking, "Depends on who's asking."

That particular bit of subterfuge wasn't about to fool anyone. Rube headed towards the old man with a friendly smile and his hand out for a shake. "Professor Farnsworth. I'm Rube Sofer, and I'm George Lass's..." He made a face and shrugged. "Friend, guardian, official representative this Parents' Weekend -- call it what you will. Can I have a moment of your time?"

"My condolences," Farnsworth offered, and, no, he was not taking anyone's hand. "And I guess I'm not going anywhere any time soon, so let's make it quick."
