I am thinking of starting a scientific organization in jacksonville. Basically a group of people who meet together to discuss different theories (either of their own, or by others), argue the facts, and perhaps conduct field experiments

i could go off on a philosophical tirade about this, but i must write my papers instead.
and fwiw it's worth, i'm willing to talk about quantum theory or for that matter, string theory since that evades me.

You know those little cards? The ones stuck inside magazines? The ones with the postage already on them so if you want to join a CD club or get a plate with Elvis on it or whatever all you have to do is fill it out and stick it in a mail box? I hate those damn things. I'm looking at a TV Guide, a Playboy, or something and I can't control the pages because the magazine keeps automatically flipping to the page with the card! I hate that to death! Don't you too? What the hell can be done about those damn things

Are you talking about Jacksonville Florida? I'm not from anywhere around there, but that sounds really cool. I go to a liberal arts college that is populated with some rather stuck-up intellectuals, but there topics of conversation are usually not up my alley. Too many unquestioning Catholics. Any possibility of starting a LJ group with the same thing in mind? Keep me posted
