And hugged.
Twice. ;p
Yes, my dear flisters I braved the horrid, horrid Cockfest (aka The World Chicken Festival) this year AND a sea of Dukes of Hazzard fans to meet Jonathon Kent, I mean John Schneider. I have never seen so much orange in my life and I work at the jail!! *g*
I'll be honest with you, I fought with myself when I found out that he and other Dukes 'stars', including Tom Wopat (Sen. Jenkins) were gonna be at the 'fest this year. I mean, it's the stupid beyond stupid Cockfest but... but... why not go and get some SV stuff signed I had to be up in town for work anyway so... after 2 hours standing the rain there he was.
A Kent. Pa Kent. Clark's daddy. *sigh*
I just know I got Clark cooties by proxy!
Wanna hear about my 'meeting'? *g*
First, John Schneider is an unbelievably beautiful man and really freaking tall!!! I am so not used to that in males. I'm tall for a gal, almost 5'11" and sweet Kal-El! I only came to his shoulder! He is very, very nice and personable. He grinned really big when he saw I had the SV S1 Companion guide. (Remember I'm surrounded by that sea of orange Dukes fans here!) I told him that I really enjoyed his work on SV and that I cried when JK died and I really miss Jonathon's presence on the show. He said (paraphrasing since that much pretty in a man makes me brain dead) that SV was a great show to work on and he really enjoyed it. I congratulated him on his best Actor win at the British Film Fest this year (a huge thanks to
twistedlyn for the soundbite to impress!!) and grinned again and did the cutest fake British accent and said, 'Ah the British Film Festival'. He thanked me and seemed genuinely happy that I mentioned it. He asked me if I was going to be at his movie screening tonight and while I know he's an actor here, he acted a little sad when I told him that I wanted to go, but unfortunately I had to work. (If I would have known he'd been so freaking nice, I would have went to the one last night. *sigh* Stupid me.)
My time was almost up so he signed his pic in the compainion guide AND the S1 JK card I had tucked inside. The inscription on the guide is 'Thank you! John Schneider, then he put J. Kent under it. *g* The card just has his siggy. He gave me a hug, And gave me a kiss on the cheek.
The gal behind me (who I had to stand beside and deal with for 2 fucking hours, in the rain, the occasionally pouring rain, and that sudden bff's companions in line relationship is a whole 'nother post) was freaking out trying to take pics, and I was kinda hanging back because I had promised her I take a pic of her and him together with her camera. Her hands were shaking so hard that he laughed and grabbed her camera and grabbed me (and leaned his head on MY HEAD!!!! *guh* I kinda hope the gal contacts me and gives me that pic) and snapped a pic of us. He said, bye to me and she stepped up for a drool hug and he took their pic together too. He turned the digital camera around to see if the pic took and turned to me and grinned and said 'Look you're in the background. *giggle*
A side note. JS's 'handlers' are very nice. At least they were to me. Maybe it was because I mentioned SV (and got a shocked look, remember orange sea) and basically the guy one told me without telling me how to find him when I missed him Friday by about 5 minutes. Yes. I am stupid. I should have went and looked for him, but... it was stupid 'fest and it was raining and... *sigh* stupid me. No? So instead of doing the smart thing I hung around the stupid 'fest for awhile and wandered back to 'Duke Haven' and his gal 'handler' was there and told me that they weren't coming back that night 'cause of the rain (and seriously my town is so fucked up that they don't even think about the possibility of inclement weather so I don't blame JS and co for not wanting to sit under a tarp in the rain, but they'd be there tommrow blah blah. She's nice, she's polite. I say well, I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it Sat 'cause of having to work and that I really wasn't here because of Dukes but because of SV. She was like 'oh wow! You like Smallville?' I told her I had some SV stuff for him to sign and she leaned over to me and whispered to me that he was thinking about staying til Sun if they got rained out Sat and I and I really got the impression she would have talked to me more, but someone started calling for her and she said, you should really try to come tommrow.
So... still I debated with myself. Go. Skip it. I'd braved the Cockfest, in rain none the less, did I really want to do it all again the next day then have to go to work after? I ponder and really don't make up my mind to actually go again til I was awakened this morning by this huge freaking thunderstorm and just couldn't go back to sleep. So I say, fuck it, why not go see if I can get his autograph on something SV. So I go. And I walk. And I fucking walk. In the intermittant rain. And I get there and what has happened? The gal from yesterday is is putting up a sign. I'm like le sigh and she looks up at me and says 'I remember you. They're moving to the Civic Center and they'll be there in about an hour and the line is already starting so you should go straight there.I'm like well... I'll drop by and I'll hang around but I have to be at work and she's like, if you really want something signed he'd be happy to sign something and mail it to you. You can give me your address and I'm like, oh that would be cool, if he'd sign my SV card. And she's like he'd be happy to and told me that she'd pop out in the crowd and look for me and if I had to leave she'd get my info and the card. Nice huh? So I trudge. In the rain. In my scrubs to the Civic Center. And I stand in line. In the rain. For almost 2 hours. Surprise, surprise, the gal does remember me. But I have enough time... then... while I was a like 3-4 people away from him, another one of his 'handlers' sees my S1 Companion guide and grabs it out of my hands and starts flipping through it. He starts chatting and saying he hasn't seen one of those in a long time and he loooooooves SV and the season premier is tonight. I said, uh, no actually it was last night and they dude said said What? What day is this? When I told him Saturday he looked so crestfallen! LOL!
All in all, I'm glad I braved the stupid Cockfest and the stupid pouring rain. JS is really, really nice and watching him interact with other fans only made me more of a fan.
In other news. I'm sorry I'm such a sporadic poster nowadays. I do miss you guys terribly and hopefully soon I'll be able to annoy my flisters with post after post after post. *g* Been working on some ficcies when I get the time, hopefully something soonish. At least soonish for me. :/ And...
I did watch SV.
And I kneel stand by my firm belief that Tom Welling is the Prettiest. Man. Ever.
The storyline? The Inescapeable Destiny? *sigh*
I want to know what in the hell Clark did to deserve that? *double sigh*
huggers and much loves
