I am convinced that SDMX and I both need a wife.

I am not being entirely serious, but how exactly are professional couples supposed to take care of life outside of work? How do people with children do it? Do they just not sleep?

Have we just grown extremely lazy? Or are there genuinely not enough hours in the day?

Happily (?), we live in a society where a great number of good/healthy/enjoyable/fun/things-we-want-to-do must be past up for sleep. Narrowing it down to one area, movies--there is not enough enough time in the day to watch all the good movies worth watching.

At some point, you've got to say "No, I'm not going to do that fun thing." The hard part is deciding when to draw the line.

Adulthood sucks, in some respects.

Yeah, I definitely see what you're saying.

It's just if I did everything I'm supposed to do -- gym regularly, clean the house, cook dinner every night, job applications -- I wouldn't have time for any fun at all.

So my solution -- I do nothing. I'm lucky if I brush my hair in the morning. SDMX suggests I go see a doctor and get some motivation in pill form -- but I'm definitely not an ADD person, and I'm not depressed in any clinical sense.

The last 3 years have convinced me that effort means shit. So fuck working hard, when people with my identical credentials (and worse) got jobs making $160K and I'm passing time in a $30K job, hoping to get one that is $60K.

Dear Ivorysilence,

I think you meant to say a domestic assistant or "maid (gender neutral)" by when you referred to a wife, not a legally binding domestic partner.

Indeed. I thought "wife" would be a funnier word-choice. It's got quite a bit of baggage attached.
