Logan is literally the only Wolverine movie worth a darn and, aside from X-2, the only one to make his character actually tragic and interesting instead of just being angsty/badass. I really enjoyed the opportunity for a post-traumatic Xavier to be a bit less of a saint, too. Obviously, the trappings of the previous Xavier are there, but it's the first film to ever make him an imperfect sort of person who tries for the best. I love--love!--the fact that the badguy is the banality of evil. There was all this chatter after X-Men: Apocalypse's post-credits scene that Mister Sinister would be the bad guy for this movie (the case of material taken from the Weapon X facility said "Essex Corp," Mister Sinister's name is Nathaniel Essex). I think that would totally have ruined it--making the bad guy another megalomaniac with a horrible purpose as opposed to a human guy with immoral bent. Having the extermination of mutants be an accident is just so much more sad and awful in a totally human, relatable way, which is why I loved Logan. Logan is
