I want to apologise for zooming through Parts I through III without commenting once, but your fic is so engrossing, so perfectly paced that I could not help myself. I had to keep reading...

This is -- I don't even have the beginnings of words -- every conceivable kind of wonderful. The reactions of each character (John, Mrs Hudson, Mycroft, and of course Lestrade) ring so perfectly true. This feels like canon, in the best way. Your story is unbelievably moving and powerful, a portrait of Sherlock's 'family' being brave and supporting one another in grief, trying to move forward with their lives whilst still honouring the memory of their friend.

And I love, love how Lestrade works it all out at the end, entirely on his own, using both his hugely underrated intelligence *and* his understanding of human nature to pierce through Sherlock's lies and finally discover the truth of the matter when no one else does.

Absolutely breathtaking story. Thank you so much!

That was bloody gorgeous. The best post-Reichenbach Lestrade fic, I've read to date. And I have no hesitation in telling you that you've got yourself a fan. I'm going to read all your Sherlock stories as and when I find the time.

Lestrade's chracterization was spot-on and I absolutely loved the Hopkins bit. It was the best validation Lestrade could have and was a brilliant plot-point.

p.s. The ending floored me as well. Thanks for sharing!

This is an great vision of what happens to Lestrade (and to the others) after the fall. Very canon.
And the end... The way of thought in Lestrade's mind is absolutely fabulous !
Thanks for writing and sharing.

This is brilliant. Fascinating, moving, convincing. I think I'll adopt it for my headcanon for the time being, if you don't mind!

No complaints here! It's mostly turned into mine, so it's nice to know someone else is sharing.

This is stunning -- I love it so much. This Lestrade is wonderful, well, all the characters are. Your John broke my heart. And Sherlock's presence is so powerful, though of course he is utterly absent.
