Comeback

It feels like it's been a while once more since I last updated. There is a good reason for that. That injury which has had me hobbling up and down the country has turned out to be a broken leg. I was actually hauling myself around on a leg that was broken in two places for five weeks before it was finally confirmed. It seems so impossible now, ( Read more... )

Oh my god, how can you not be told you have a broken leg?? That's awful - and such bad news on how the DVT will affect you flying abroad. Did the DVT only occur because of the delay in getting diagnosed or would you have got it anyway?

It's pretty crazy isn't it? You'd imagine that the person examining the x-ray has the full set of human emotions such as compassion and mercy, and that it'd be impossible to let someone be in such pain without telling them what's wrong and what can be done about it but... there it is.

As for the DVT, it's hard to say. There was a rupture of the inter-bone membrane which caused a lot of internal bleeding (which can't have helped), but had I known my leg was broken I would have taken steps to try and prevent the DVT from occurring, such as keeping me leg elevated whenever I wasn't moving etc. I might have stood a chance.
