[Hawke's been quiet for a while now. Anyone who knows him should know just how odd that is in and of itself. He sits in the stables bar sipping at a bottle of...something. He wasn't really paying to what it was when he grabbed it. All he knew was that he wanted something alcoholic

[The past week's been torture for her, locked away while the people she cares about were out and about killing and being killed. She's passing by the bar when she spies a familiar figure inside. Vie pauses, and then moves toward him. Voice soft, she speaks.]

Garrett.

[Should have picked a better spot to hide. He turns around and smiles to her.]

You found me. Now it's your turn to hide.

[Vie smiles in return, but she knows there's more going on than he's letting on. She runs a hand up his back and nods at the seat beside him.]

Perhaps a drink first. Mind if I sit?

[He knows she knows something's up, but that doesn't mean he's going to make this any easier.]

A drink always comes first.

[Hawke reaches out and pulls the seat out for her.]

[Remy had honestly been meaning to venture to the bar. He had heard it was unmanned and this simply could not do. He was a man easily bored and this was something to do, even though it was what he did back home.

He's pleasantly surprised to find someone to talk to as he arrives.]

[Hawke glances at Remy with some surprise. Not that another man showed up here, it is a bar after all, but by what he said.]

You know, I don't think another man has given me a plain, simple greeting in years. It's always "please do this for me" or "find this for me" or "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU".

This is a nice change actually.

[He laughs a bit as he turns to look at the bar.]

So this is the poor neglected bar I've heard about, hm?

There's a distinct lack of manners in Kirkwall. It's a terrible problem.

[Hawke takes another swig from his drink and looks back at the bar.]

I wouldn't call it neglected. There's always someone happily willing to take its alcohol.

[Like him for instance.]

[Enough time has passed that certain mages are once again in full possession of their wits. And with the record of everything Justice said to those he cares for.]

[He'd just gone for a walk. Something to clear his head. He didn't expect to run into Hawke.]

... Drinking alone?

[So he remembers who he is again. Thank the Maker for that. He got more of Justice than he ever wanted to.]

Is it really that surprising? What else do you think I do at my house?

[Hawke smirks and takes a sip from his bottle.]

[And for that, he owes Hawke an apology.]

[He stops a few feet away, leaning slightly on his staff.]

Play fetch with your mabari, or fend off mobs begging for you to find their lost such-and-such.

[If anyone is apologizing it'll be him. Hawke should have never let Anders die in the first place. Just another failure on his part.]

Sandal and Aveline give that dog more a workout than I ever could, and you learn to tune out the mobs eventually. This here is me-time.

[Although he's making no effort to shoo Anders away.]

[Varric's just going to sidle up next to him and take a seat, without any concern for whether or not Hawke actually wants to be alone. He's got his own bottle of something, and he takes a drink from it before he speaks.]

You looking to give the elf a run for his money?

[You're looking mighty broody there, Hawke.]

[He doesn't expect any less from his favorite dwarf.]

Are you joking? Fenris has that market cornered. I wouldn't stand a chance.

[Next time he needs to find a better hiding spot. Maybe the dog kennel again.]

Point. Drinking alone in a tavern is a few steps above drinking alone in an abandoned mansion covered with cobwebs.

[Yeah, the only tavern at the keep probably isn't the best hiding spot ever.]
