not a good day.

Being in college... being around such a tremendous group of people who are there to love and entertain you... well let's just say I'm glad I knew what I had when I had it.  Because now, when sad things happen in your life, you can't just run down the hall and cry, or gripe, or laugh, or anything.  I'm sitting around my apartment today thinking, "I' ( Read more... )

First of all, you're dream...simple, I'm stunned. I feel honored. I can only hope that I was a freakin Bad A$$ in the dream...but I doubt it. Still, if I was fighting any ninjas, let me know

Secondly, you're post hits right on the money. In all the surverys I've conducted of people like you and me, fresh out of school, the same quandry seems to be perplexing everyone. It used to be so easy. An entire social structure was sitting at your fingertip 24/7. Now, lonliness is an emotion that is far too often felt.

Still, I let the sadness go in place of excitement for the most part. I'm too excited to see what will happen in this phase of life to dwell on the downside. I just have to appreciate what I had and move on. There was no way I could stay in school forever, might as well make the best of it.

Hey Dossey & Andy. . .It's Bethany. I just wanted to chime in. . .I totally agree with both of you about life after college. I didn't have the sisterhood of a sorority, but living on campus there were always people around. . .Someone was always around to talk to; whether it was complaining about the caf food, venting about how crazy your professors are, or telling a story about the funniest thing that happened during a midnight trip to Wal-Mart or Waffle House.
After you graduate it's like you're dropped off on the "adult" island. . .You feel like you're in a totally different place, a million miles away from your friends. . .You're having to compete for your place on the totem pole. . .And you just have to learn how to survive in the new environments, outside of the college bubble.
Having to start over can be scary and lonely, but like Andy said, it's also very exciting to see what's ahead in this new chapter of life.
