I was nitpicking the same way about the Lincoln memorial thing and the National Gallery thing. I like how they had all these fake signs in the gallery calling it the 'Washington Art Museum'.

There's also the fact that while there is substantial museum storage underneath Natural History and some underground space beneath the other museums, there isn't a big interconnected underground vault like that. The vast majority of what isn't on display in the museums is actually out in a huge fancy pants facility in Maryland. Which, granted, doesn't sound anywhere near as cool, but. It actually is quite nifty - they took us on a field trip there when I was interning with the Smithsonian two summers ago, and it's awesome. There's an entire wing full of fish in jars ( ... )

I also liked how they photoshopped "Air and Space Museum" or whatever on the glass front of Air & Space At least, I'm pretty sure that's fake, but I haven't been there in ages. My average trip downtown is pretty much a beeline from the Metro station to the Natural History Museum ._.

Yeah, I was like 99% sure that vault nonsense wasn't real, either. XD; That thing out in Maryland sounds awesome, I wish I could go D: I would totally intern or volunteer there this summer if I didn't need to get a real job that paid real money.

Whaaat, really? That's awesome, I've never seen that part of the Castle. It looked really pretty in the movie, that's kind of cool that it's real XD And yeah, Mom's told me stories about Back In Her Day when everything was crammed in the Castle. I guess it would have to have some nice big spaces like that.

Yeah, that "Air and Space Museum" sign was totally fake. I was downtown a couple of days ago and popped into Air & Space and there is definitely no such sign. :D

The one thing that really sucked about that internship was that there was no stipend, so doing it ended up costing me about $250 in metro fees. :P

It is quite cool! They probably filmed those parts on a studio set, given the amount of chaos that was going on in there, and I think they did change a few things - I don't remember the big stained glass window that Lincoln burst through, I want to say there are actually display cases along that wall with some smaller windows above them - but it was mostly a replica of a room that actually exists. Now I wish I could find good pictures of the real place and screencaps from the movie to do comparison, because I am a huge dork like that. XD
