Yeah, I work in the Schaumburg store, though I still left at my scheduled time and didn't stay later than 11am, hung up signs around the store and made sure that all the % off signs were up. Didn't have to ring anything today, but I sure got to tell some "educators" that their discount card wasn't good anymore, which was probably the best part of my day.

Yuck.... I did a lot of that last night. Stayed 2 hours after closing. The reason I was asking is because my old GM transferred to one of the Illinois stores last month and I can't remember which one it was. She took the position of new sales manager. Is yours the store they call creeper central?

I loved telling the teachers they couldn't use their discounts!!!!
I'm sorry but they chose to become teachers, and that does NOT give them a right to get pissed off at me when I wouldn't use the teachers discount on obvious non classroom items!
I really hate teachers that thought they were above the rules!!!!!
which was nearly all of the teachers in our store . . .

LOL I hated that!! I remember a woman once screamed at me for asking her what items in her purchase were going to be used in her class room. I explained to her the discount was for classroom purchases only. And then she demanded to talk to my manager and screamed at him!
I also had a first grade teacher once tell me that the erotica he was buying was for his classroom. Really?
Sorry, no new SM last month

Nope, not mine, though to be fair we do have our share of creepers...and Steve the homeless guy, but unlike a lot of other homeless guys, Steve actually bought stuff.

I think the creepers and homeless guys are just mascots for Borders by now lol. We have our fair share at our store. All ours bought were cafe beverages though. They mostly just read the magazines and stunk up the cafe with their BO and stale booze stink.

We had lots in 833 and my daughter worked at a Borders in a college town in the Northeast. She use to tell me about the ones that stalked her. We were at a farmers market last month in the city and one called her name and was waving at her. She hid behind me.
Thank you, Schaumburg

Don't work at Schaumburg, but spent time there yesterday from late afternoon until closing because I wanted to be in a Borders until it actually ceased to be a Borders, which all of them did as of close last night

My store went in the second round of axe-swinging. I go by there and my heart sinks to see the huge building empty and bare. I had some of the best times at work with all my co-workers, the core of full-timers who hung on until the end. I miss everybody and hope to see you at the reunion soon.
I don't miss the company so much as I miss "Borders", the cool place to work. Every time I'd mention I worked there, the response was, "I LOVE that store!" And I'd see those customers again and again.
