Does anyone know how we are going to get our W-2's? Who takes on the responcibilty of making sure that they go out at the beginning of next year? I've never been laid off. I keep calling HR and the one person who now works in the office, I'm sure, is busy. Maybe Mike should just subsidize any taxes that we would otherwise pay.

NY full timmers are lucky anonymous July 24 2011, 02:53:30 UTC
If you're a full employee and you work in NY (and you have little expenses and in good health), you're so fucking lucky. NY unemployment is 60% of your weekly salary; you're basically get a get out of jail free card w/ majority of your pay. Find a full time job as fast as you can (good luck) but in the mean time, with a little less spending, you'll be okay.

Fukkin sweet! But the management has been playing fast and loose with my hours for months and I've never had the same amount of hours from week to week. Recently, I've been padding my 25-32 hour weeks with vacation days. What do they base the 60% on?

I did the same thing with vacation hours, I'm in CA though. But if NY is like CA, your vacation hours count as wages earned for unemeployment purposes.

First round closer. Never got aW-2, all of my checks were direct deposit. I really hope they actually sent the money to theIRS. Would suck to owe taxes I already paid with no proof.

Gonna be bummed when I actually have to buy the H&R Block software next year instead of copying down the Deluxe activation code from the boxes we carry.

Foundation Scholarships? anonymous July 24 2011, 20:17:20 UTC
Does anyone know anything about the Borders Foundation scholarships? I am supposed to receive one in August, and I have no idea how the company going out of business will affect this? My store closed in May, so I am not "in the loop" anymore, if there even is one.

I spoke with someone at Payroll today and they said they will be sent out sometime around December.

Here's hoping that's correct and not someone blowing smoke to not have to deal with it.
