Borders Class of 2011 and before

It has been mentioned in a post/comment before, but I just wanted to remind you all that there is a facebook page out there with almost 6,700 current and former Borders Group employees. Personally I think it's fun to read about all the different stores and see how people in other departments function. There are people there from corporate on down. ( Read more... )

It's time to close the door and turn off the lights.

A page for your store anonymous August 3 2011, 07:48:45 UTC
People at my store were really close to each other and wanted to stay in touch, so we set up a Facebook page for our store. That way, we can share news, plan get-togethers, etc., for those who want to participate. I know some other stores have done the same thing. We do plan on going ahead with our lives, but would like to stay connected to people who became more than just co-workers.

I'm a customer, and I've become addicted to this Facebook page even though I haven't joined (I'd feel weird since I'm not an employee!). Actualy, it's quite surprising how honest many of the posts are, and after reading some of them, I will now avoid public restrooms for the rest of my life! I like the stories about whacky customers, how booksellers have handled difficult people, booksellers fielding stupid questions over and over, etc. There is a real sense of family; I'm even more sad now that Borders is shutting its doors forever!
