Ok the argument could be made that "official" notification in the form of a letter from Borders Corp was not sent to each HQ employee. We all know that HR feel down on the job many times in the past eight months

Totally agree with this. I sat in every all hands meeting in 142 since going into BK and felt the company did everything to let us know that there was a real possibility of not making it.
This Jared chump is just trying to get free money, dude get over it, move on and get another job, although with what you just did with the lawsuit, don't know many employers will touch you now!

2 months pay is not hugs and kisses, it's food to feed the family, so why are you being so judgmental? Laws are written to be abided by, whether you're an individual or corporation, and this law was broken and management should be held accountable. It may not even matter if he doesn't see the money for a while, or whether his lawyer pockets a good percentage...it's the principle of the thing. pardoning Borders for this is like companies to violate the same or different labor laws, and so hurray for joe schmo standing up against impossible odds. That's how progress in this country gets made.

I think the point was that many in AA and DM's got something in the end. Many got three months /12 weeks including Jared. The majority in the field got nothing but a slap in the face. They weren't being judgmental simply truthful in a rotten situation

Look Jared up on Linkedin. What a great hire. 7 companies (well, 6 but he had 2 stints at Compuware that were separated by working elsewhere) in 9 years before hiring on with Borders. Yes he did a stint at Circuit City but only for 1 year. Then went to Sears where he was a District Manager in Training for 1 year. Then hired by Borders to be a DM. He had never been 1 before except for that 1 year as a DM in Training at Sears right before Borders hired him. Just another reason Borders got flushed. What an amazing job they did of hiring executive and upper level management leaders over the past 5 years.

eh he wasn't a bad dude. way better than bill sabourin, who he replaced for my district. i think he was out on sick leave when shit hit the fan (though he was real damn stupid for not knowing about it ahead of time)
So sick of chain bookstores (mainly you assholes, B&N and BAM) with your stupid reward program cards, bullshit useless coupons and neverending emails. So fucking glad Amazon crushed you like the cockroach you were. In conclusion: FUUUCCCKKK YYYOOOUUU Borders!!!!

You are either Jared, or you're just one of those spoiled, self-righteous, know-it-all former 'customers' who didn't get his/her way all the time. FYI, EVERY RETAIL STORE OFFERS REWARDS CARDS, and our was better because it didn't solicit peoples' credit. You're just an bitterly angry mess who's better off burying your head in the sand where it belongs. Leave the real and educated opinions to us adults.

Is there even a company left to sue?

I would point out that the company had been closing stores and laying off employees for YEARS. Didn't he ever notice?
