As to what you all think About This

A very pro-life member of my friends list posted this and her determination that these people are absolute scum who are just trying to rip people off.(This list is pretty heavily filtered to not include anyone else I have on my list that she may have on her list.)  I really feel pretty strongly about it.   I think ( Read more... )

The part I don't get is that they can live with themselves putting a monetary value on having a baby, but couldn't live with themselves to give it up?

Yeah... I didn't get that either.

now i admit that i didn't read the whole thing.

but the bits i did read made me feel either that it was a huge scam, or that i didn't like the people at all. i respect it's a tough decision to make, but i think the part where they indicated that "because of the state we live in, we have 3 more months to decide" (or something to that effect), and that just did it for me. Presumably it's one of the delightful states that allows abortions up to 6 months....and to me, that's way beyond fucked up and wrong. to even contemplate aborting after you've felt the baby move....that takes a special kind of coldness in my view.

so yeah....$50K.....i just don't like it at all.

and of course i'm interested in your response :)

Up to 6 months??? I thought it was up to 3 months. My husband was born at 5 and half months and I can tell you 100% he was a human baby when he was born and not what the anti abortion people claim they are when they are aborted. So whatever place is aborting at 6 months..that's just plain murder.

for some reason 6 months was in my head, but i think it's 5 months. either way, that one month doesn't change much - like you said, it's still murder. i'm all for choice, but that's just waaaaaaaaay too long.

Few things:

Medical bills for a regular vaginal delivery can be up to $8K, c-section up to $12K. Add some reasonable prenatal and postnatal care on to that and you're up to as much as $15K. So I find it VERY fishy that their first concern is getting a house and car...and then eventually "any medical bills" she may have? UM, she'll have a TON of medical bills. WTF. Seriously.

On the very cynical, social scientist point of view...it's an interesting tactic. A super dark "put your money where your mouth is, pro-lifers!" statement. Eeek.
