here's an imaginary scenario:

two people are supposed to come and visit you.

one of them calls and asks if they can stop by, because they are bored. about 20 minutes later the person that called says that another person is coming too. cool. great.

an hour later the second person calls and says they aren't coming, because the first person is going to a different person's house.
