I WISH IT WAS LEGAL TO TELL YOU GUYS THE FULL DETAILS ABOUT WHAT WENT DOWN THESE PAST FEW DAYS! Long story short- your favorite Skunk Head shot sniper for the craziest operation of which I've EVER had the joy of being involved

For legal reasons, you'll have to officially adopt him. They'll be a few papers for you to sign, including ones for legally changing his name and all that, but it's actually really simple. It's the most common form of adoption out there and I'm sure that most judges see a few cases a day, if not more!
You'll need his birth certificate, your marriage license and you'd normally need a paper of consent from the other parent, but that doesn't apply for you guys...
You'll go to a hearing and talk to the judge and sign all the paperwork and then they'll send you away as his dad if all goes well~ :3
So, uh, what all goes on in the hearing? Are my criminal/psychological/general being me records going to be an issue with all this? And is it really all that necessary? I mean, I can already put him on my insurance as is, he knows I'm his and I know he's mine... can't we just leave it at that?
Seems simple enough, I suppose. I don't know if I'm too concerned about a name change, though. I don't really have a good one to offer him. I have a crap one from a man I hate, or an odd sounding one from a father I never knew...
It would seem I need to talk to you here now since we barely see one another; what, with your work and school and my heavy school-related workload... With my thesis done and your friends successfully slandered, I now feel a lot more relaxed.
Honestly, though? You really don't have to adopt the kid. He sees you as his dad and if/when you and I marry you'll be his legal stepfather, so... what's the big deal? Oh, but I can't wait until he gets to be a teenager and starts throwing the "you're not my father" card around... I'd steel yourself up for that in advance.
Wait, what's with my buddies and the slander? What did you do? D:
... I'll be completely and totally honest when I say I'd LOVE to adopt him... I'm just sort of scared 'cause I don't want them to look through my history and say, "Gee wilikers, sir, you have a hell of a criminal AND psychological record, we're not quite sure we want him going home with you..." you know? And hey, "you're not my father" is easily combated with "you're under my roof, boy." I'm already prepped. :P
I had an amazing time! >D And hey- all that action and I didn't get hit ONCE. No scars, no stitches, not even a bandaid or an ice pack! Fuahahaha! I am like a NINJA in the night!
He IS adorable, isn't he? But you can't have him! He's MINE! And his mom's. But I'll share with her because she rides so well~ >3

Nothing really happens... you just show up, provide proper ID and the papers that I mentioned and you sign the adoption papers!
It's not required to officially adopt him, but I think it might be required for name changes and things like that.
