Dear Lazywebs... browser tabs into windows?

OK, I have a longstanding browser feature request, but maybe someone out there knows a browser that already does this, or knows that Firefox does this and can tell me where the blasted option is since I certainly can't find it ( Read more... )

Firefox and Safari both allow dragging tags off to create new windows. And dragging tabs around to reorder within windows or to move them between windows.

Apparently not on the Mac, or at least not Firefox 2 on my mac :-(
It just creates a saved web page or shortcut or some such nonsense on the desktop. You can, of course, drag a tab into another window, but that seems to re-issue the HTTP request, which is what I'd like to avoid, as that is sometimes a very expensive operation even in human time.

Can't get it to work with Safari either (it won't do anything at all with that action), but admittedly my Safari is very old. I should upgrade and try that.

Hm, what version of Mac OS X? It's not that new of a feature, but perhaps it's new enough.

The previous one- 10.4 (Tiger? Can't recall the code name). I guess the old OS code could interfere with the feature, or not supply a way for the app to maintain control outside of its current window set. The OS seems to allow whatever application is under the cursor to handle the dragged-off tab (and I'm grabbing and dragging it the same way I would to re-order the tabs, which I've more or less always known about).
