I saw a while ago, and could probably find again if I were that interested, where a guy used nanowires and some nuclear material to make a battery about the size of your thumbnail that would power a smart phone for over a hundred years.

It's probably more eco-friendly than what we currently do, but can you imagine if al-Quaida bought a few million cell phones?
