Inuyasha swore under his breath as he watched Kagome fall, hearing her scream bloody murder as she plummeted through the thin air. Grunting, he pushed himself forward. Inuyasha's bare feet were full of pricks and thorns. Poisonous in nature and filled with enough demonic energy to slow him and make him wince on them, he chose to ignore the pain and continued toward the girl who was hurtling toward the ground. He flipped onto his back and rolled when he reached her, taking the worst of the fall to protect her frail mortal body.
When he looked up at the top of the cliff he noticed that the mysterious silver rogue had disappeared, their shards in hand.
He cut off Kagome's apologies with an angry bark, snarling as she plucked a thorn from his heel.
“Kagome, what the fuck do you think you're doing?” he hissed, his ears flattening to his head with his pain and his lips pulled back into a feral snarl.
“Fixing you,” the answer was short and simple and not meant at all in the way that it would have been if uttered by anyone else. She continued to remove the thorns one by one.
Kagome was weak. Another thorn in his side. The only difference was that this thorn was part of a rose. Beautiful, regardless of how much potential she had to hurt him.
“Better?” she asked quietly as she massaged his tender feet.
“Keh.” Yes, much better.
