Mar 04, 2009 20:11

Alrighty, since it seems yuri is not a popular subject around here, I am putting week 19 to a close a couple of hours early. I will have a banner made for landofthekwt for his entry ( Read more... )

At the risk of sounding horribly dense... what's wrong with het? Not everybody in the fandom is into yaoi, myself included. Nothing against the people who are, but it's just not my cup of tea. At all.

I never said anything was wrong with het. I read/write both myself, so I am not adverse to het at all.

I noted that most do not like yuri, but to be clear and fair, i wanted to put yaoi out there too as an option.

If it gets enough votes, then i may use yaoi pics in the future, however it wont become a regular thing. If it doesn't then, so be it, this will be a strictly het community. i have no problem with that.

I'm not saying that yaoi should never be a prompt at all... if it's mixed in an even half and half that's fine... I just don't want it to become the predominant thing like it has in a lot of the comms I watch. If I remember correctly the yaoi prompts got decent response along with the het stuff. I don't think you'll have to axe yaoi completely.

Some of us just can't/won't write for things that are too far off canon, or for minor pairings. You probably would get your best response to pics that are individual characters, pairings that are popular and group pics where people are doing something. IMHO, of course.

I've been kind of waiting for an image I could write on to do a piece, but for weeks now, it's been really hard. Me, I can write I/K, M/S, maybe Sessh/rin, or stories about people in non-sexual settings....but I personally can't write yaoi, yuri, or alt pairings.

So, you might consider what you want to do. To get the max writers, you might want to pick more mainstream, canon-oriented images, mixed in with some popular alternative things, like S/K, or the occasional, but not often yaoi pic. But your numbers may drop on those images.

Just my 2 cents worth. Take it for what it's worth!

You make all good points!

I totally understand that not everybody writes yaoi/yuri or even non-canon pairings. I'm totally fine with that and respect everyone's opinion. I think for the most part I will start sticking to the popular/canon pairings, and maybe every once in a while throw something different in.

Thanks so much for the input dear, I appreciate it :)

Actually, I was hoping you would have used the Miroku/Sesshomaru because I had an idea that was for those two, but not yaoi at all. The Kagura/Kagome one just didn't leave a lot of other options.

You have to look at the picture - does it allow for any other interpretation than the obvious? I'll also admit that I'm either immediately struck with an idea, or have none at all.
