I like...All the things to realize, although I've buffered it a bit more in my universe, these are still the realities..people tolerate the supernatural, but don't really like it when it rubs shoulders with them day to day...

Thanks. The idea came to me when I saw their hands joined inside their sleeves. Tolerance is probably something you would not find in a small town.
When I was researching the Edo Period for Descent into Darkness, the census at the beginning of the 18th century for Edo showed over 1 million people. Many who use Edo as Kaede's village think of it as small town. Edo would grow to be a huge city in 100 years of Tokugawa rule.

I love Kriscynical's drawings so much. Between the two of you, you really make the postmanga world come alive.

Their village couldn't be Edo, though, even in 1555. Kaede's village wouldn't even have the memory of having once been a prosperous town with a thriving merchant quarter...Until it got eaten up by the expansion of Tokugawa's Edo, it would have been a small rural village, and like you suggest, there would not have been much call for tolerance. I created a headman who is in cahoots with Kaede to run interference for InuYasha, and who basically took them in as a branch family, but for the most part, there wouldn't have been much reason for them to want to tolerate something like it ( ... )
