The only novel of his that I've read is Put Out More Flags. I think it's one of the lesser-known ones, but we had it as a set book at school when I was about seventeen. It was so long ago that I can remember very little about it, but I do recall enjoying it and finding it amusing. If you'd like to find out more about it before committing yourself to reading it, I imagine that Wikipedia will have an article about it.
